How Many, Before?
How many times must I say “I love you
before you accept it as true?”
How much love must I reveal
before you know that it’s real?
How many games must we play
before we both pull away?
How many smiles can you paint on
before I sense that we are done?
How many whispers must I hear
before I believe my own ears?
How many cold kisses must we share
before I realize you don’t care?
How many lies will you tell me
before you say we can not be?
How many times must my heart be broken
before I utter the unspoken?

Great write
Thank you, Tony36.
You're welcome
A write of questions about dissolution of a relationship. Well written and nicely said.
Thank you, SB. How Many questions must be asked, before you call it a poem?
Zero to infinity but never a negative number.
It always amazes me yet I am rarely surprised .. (that by the way applies equally to your authors note as it does more generally to your poetry) .. since I have come to anticipate either subtle twists and killer punchlines which is the hallmark of your writing and the highest of compliments I am able to pay while getting ready for work this morning .. Usually opposites do attract, love is such a beautiful emotion can also bring one into the gutters of hell, still and all we keep going, we keep searching, we keep hoping. A wonderful inspiring piece dear Phil. 🌹
