(14th poem)
That Night’s Dream
“Cent or Dollar”
funeral services and all other costs
why should the bill go to the one lost?
hunger, disease, and those displaced by war
that is what I used your money for
your will indicated it was to be mine
my love you know my account is fine
this decision of yours preconceived
your charities, equal amounts received
your retirement fund, RRSP’s, and coin jar
I gave to your sister, including your car
credit cards cancelled and torn to pieces
slowly the list of people to call decreases
you no longer cost a cent or dollar my dear
on this planet that we call humanities sphere
you physically and financially no longer exist
but my love, you will forever be missed

An innovative approach to telling someone that you will remember them when no one else will. A fun read.
