It's Your Life

rebellion_in_sanity

Consistently inconsistent
A life lived in haste
Never savoring the days, that have passed
A dread fills you at its end

The dread of being left out,
The dread of having failed,
Failed in the eyes of your loved ones
Failed in the eyes of your friends

The feeling gnaws at your soul
Like vultures pecking on rotten flesh
Your life keeps burning in an impotent rage
The stench of putrid frustrations fills the space

The judgement day is yet to come, but,
You are already in Hell
Stop looking at the sky to find Heaven
You missed the door, when you started playing the game

You will find no heaven up above
Hell is not beneath your feet
You could be in heaven or hell
In the life you choose to live

You could choose to worship the 'Success God'
Climb the ladder to the sky
Feel intoxicated at your conquest
Till someone snatches it, and
You fall from so high

You could choose to worship the 'Life God'
Go through life as an ordinary man
A simple life with simple wants
Enjoy the gifts of life while you can

Fill your life with laughter
Fill your life with love
You decide what to believe
It's your life, after all

Choices are the basis of life or at least the illusion of choices. This comes through in this poem so nicely written.
