GREEN MEANS GROW

Kelvin Kofi Apenteng Bamfo

In our part of the world, this is the dilemma of the youth

Since none’s addressing it, you’ll hear it from my mouth

We’re made to believe from childhood that there’s no hurry

They even say that life truly begins in our forties

We grow up overwhelmingly feeling tensed and sorry

Perturbed, we try figuring things out in our twenties

This is our youth, a period we consider the greenest time in life

Happiness abounds, but the moment surely comes with strife

So focused, of course we’ve got magnitude

But most often, there’s constant lack of direction

We do not take time to shape our attitude

We end up a million miles far away from perfection

Our fears need encouragement and our passions, mentorship

Nonetheless who is the captain to guide our ship

Our youth is a moment of definition and self-discovery

There’ll be a need to take it slow, but then with bravery

We’re in a game of chess against life, and life seems to be winning

Whilst some manage to turn the game around, others will be mourning

You’re not alone in this, we’re all chasing purpose and meaning

Until we find it, we keep aligning, and most importantly learning.

I know nothing , I repeat nothing about International Youth day: but what I do know is that much of what you describe I recognize completely.
    Many thanks.

A time to be molded and grow it is true. Be careful the shape that you take in your youth. A most positive poem well done
