The Departure

SonamThago

Your departure has left a void,
So deep in my heart,
That I can barely breathe at times,
My heart still refuses to believe that you've left,
My mind not helping in this situation either,
But rather tormenting me more,
By replaying memories of us again and again,
Adding nothing but more sorrow,
To my already grief-stricken heart.

I thought I was prepared to face this departure,
Knowing all too well right from the very beginning,
That it will not last,
That it had to end one day,
But I guess I was wrong,
This love has left me paralyzed & numb,
And I do not know when I will recover fully from it.

But until then,
I must endure this pain,
This deep sense of sadness,
This reality of losing someone I dearly loved.

I need to console my heart that you are gone,
and that you won't return.

If only hearts could be trained,
I would train it well,
To never fall in love again.
