If I were a Tree; Beyoncé re-write

Brimelow

If I were a tree
even just for a day
I'd open my flowers in the morning
and point them where I wanted and grow
Share life with the birds
and chase after bees
I'd grow out to where I wanted
and I'd never get confronted for it
'cause I’m only a tree

If I were a tree
I think I could understand
How it feels to love the world
I swear I'd live a better life

I'd listen to it
'cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the world you wanted
'cause it's taken you for granted
and everything you love gets destroyed

If I were a tree
I would spread all my roots
Through waiting soil and chasing stem
As I find my place aloft all alone

I'd put myself first
And seek the sun when I want
'cause I know that she'll be waiting
Waiting for me to burst forth
Burst forth

If I were a tree
I think I could understand
how it feels to love the world

I swear I'd live a better life
