Alone

Tony36

How I loved her and still do

But I was young and stupid

She showed her love

I showed mine

I thought all was fine

Somewhere I missed something

I buried myself in my work

I loved her

She knew that

But in trying to build a life for us

I failed to build a life with us

As time went on

We grew further apart

Though we still loved each other in our hearts

Something had changed

Somewhere down the line

I think we stopped liking each other

When one day she told me she was leaving

It was no surprise

She left

Now I am alone

A tale told out of time. People subtly change without adjusting. Excellent!

I find this incredibly sad because you were trying to build a life for you both, sometimes miscommunication can change the path of life, such a shame, I know how hard it is to struggle to keep together through thick and thin, I've done it with my husband, now we are in our late 40's and everything is so much easier, if two people can stay the course it's a special special bond, so many cannot, this is true for so many. You pulled at my heart strings with this, may you find someone special one day soon. 🌹

Sad but can be looked at as a new start. Looking back leads one to trip. Nicely done

Building a life "for us" and not "with us", that seems subtle but is very significant!
