PENTECOST SUNDAY IN OWO [5/6/2022]

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

Hallelujah song echoes,
Voices sing with melodious ethos,
Hearts lifted in thanksgiving,
Heaven rains the awaited giving.

Songs romance many emotions,
Many were moved in motions,
It was a unique day,
The light shined it ray.

Suddenly darkness came for a visit,
Masked faces paid a courtesy visit,
Crying guns rain venoms,
Skirts and trousers fall with numbs.

Blood flows like red oil,
On the altar lies anointed oil,
Bloodbath everywhere,
Souls stranded everywhere.

Ekwensu has done this!
The devil's disciples have planned this;
Many families are wailing,
Christians are sorrowfully wailing.

The red devils might rejoice in their gains,
But Karma will visit them with pains,
Have they gone Home or home to rest in peace or piece?
The world will never have peace.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is an elegy. It reflects on the death of some Christians who were gruesomely killed on the 5/6/2022 on Pentecost Sunday at the church in Owo. May their souls find peace with their Maker.

Beautiful words in commemoration of a heinous act.
