The past

karalacey20

Here we’re are again face to face, do you recognize this place? This is where the dope was sold right out our door, this is where many sleepless nights we slept on the floor, many times we didn’t have lights, screaming battles of unconditional fights, no food on the table, but all we wanted was dinner, that dope won, they was the sinner, we just wanted love, we listened to kids in church speak of the god above, we prayed, we kneeled we asked for better, even wrote numerous counts to heaven we sent our letter, we didn’t ask for much but just wanted to fit in, we wasn’t
even cool enough to keep one friend, no one was ever aloud to come play, we was the dope house they’d all say, we tried to study to get good education, but we felt like failures an this was our only foundation. We spent many nights going to bed hungry an wondering what in life would happen next, could we ever level up, or was it easier to just give up? Well let’s bounce forward to what I had ahead, years pass by, an no more floors our my bed, working hard out here in this road called life to never be what I came from, that past may hurt but don’t keep me numb, I’ve learned from lessons in my past, my future is bright finally at last.

I like the way you use language forms to give this poem character and the story is a good one. Nicely done.
