Our Bridge

Cocamedo

Another trip to the graveyard
The place where lost souls go
Dead or alive

Both appreciate the other

Soaked from the crying angels
I searched for your resting place
It didn’t take long

This is where my lost soul goes

We never met, and have no relation
But there is a bridge we share…
Lovely memories

Traveled differently, same destination

Explosions cracked in the sky
As if every bone underground became restless
At the same time

Long enough to read your name

I cried out to you, asking for forgiveness
A stranger you know well, by now
A familiar voice

Confessing an undying love

Drenched in everything but doubt
A whisper fell upon the air
Our bridge…

My heart beats, only for her

As soon as her name left my throat
A response came immediately
Everything stopped

Your words silenced the storm

“You must set things right, every day
Hold on tightly, when she calls out

Only then
Can you prove yourself”

For a moment, we both understood
These moments are powerful
“Thank you, my friend”

…and the heavens began sobbing, once more

Nicely written this melancholic piece is set in a dark place in the dark and despite the darkness of the poem itself it offers some light at the end.
