Spur

Jeffery Lee Palmer

Staring up at the night sky,

stars are as breathtaking

as the glimmer in your eyes,

hands shaking with anticipation,

knowing I'll get to kiss your lips,

my shaky hands locked on your hips,

I would trudge through any terrain,

only surviving by drinking the rain,

I cannot stop, I need to get to you,

my heart is yours, now and forever more.

If we don't live for today,

the clock will still deduct our time either way.

So, promise me, you will always stay,

never be out of reach, your kiss is all I need,

taking my hand is a guarantee,

you will never be alone again.

We can scream from the rooftops;

No one can stop us.

When love is in your heart,

it's easy to be wreak less

so run with me through the city,

the world is a stage,

everything revolves around you and me.

So long as we are happy

who cares what anyone else thinks?

I gently move your hair out of your face,

whispering my intentions,

I'll let your imagination

decide what I'm saying.

When life locks you out in the cold,

you shatter like an icicle,

then someone comes and gathers you up,

pieces you together and makes you whole.
