Message in a Bottle

jeffburton1

There's a bottle in the ocean
A thousand miles from land
And in it rests a letter
In a strong but gentle hand

Unsigned though it may be
The passion's pretty plain
It's urgent and demanding
But gentle just the same

Whoever finds this bottle
On some distant lonely shore
Having read the message
Will be changed forever more

For reading through the heartfelt lines
They will surely weep
Lamenting they have spent their lives
Mostly fast asleep

'til seized strong conviction
And resolution clear
They set their course for new life
Free from hate and fear

The letter safely back inside
And cast into the sea
Perhaps it may yet be found
By you or maybe me

Who hasn't dreamed of finding a message in a bottle/ This one conveys perpetual. Who, we think, could have sent it, from where? Nice work.

Message in a Bottle. You reminded me of that great song by the Police. I am still waiting to find a bottle washed up on the shore. Fab poem, lovely read. Happy Sunday.

Thank you, I remember that song too.

          Good write Jeff.
I tried a message in a (glass) bottle. I didn't get far. It hit a rock and smashed when I threw it in the sea. Doh! lol.
          I do tell some porkies.

Messages found bring curiosity as a guest. A most fun write that kept attention to the very end. Nicely penned
