The Red Rose Has Lost Its Touch

mtrotter1

Soft skin lingers on the pillowcases

Seductive notes fall on the floor

I have been susceptible to fulfillment

But the lies just keep tumbling down

Red forests and red trees

Don't compare to a rose

As red as sin dressed in black

She keeps coming back to her man

For he is never intrigued

For he keeps wanting more

And the silence is deep...

Am I her

Or am I the rose,

That bleeds red in his heart?

Behold the traffic in the street!

As I'm standing in front of him

He won't let go

And the red rose falls

Like a quiet night

Love no longer lingers in his heart;

And I often wonder why the red rose lives

Longer than its lovers,

Yet its touch is still lost

In the fire.
