GOSSIP

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

A neoclassical
Ideology,
To ascertain
The seeds and deeds
of man.

It filters from mouths
to lips,
Questioning whys and
Wherefores,
Agent of depression.

Skirts and trousers
members,
Markets and joints
their meeting points.

Dainting image
their good news,
Like frenemies, they come,
Diffusing words,
Adding salts to injury.

They are your friends
and neighbors,
Who watch you like
television,
In kissing, they kill you.

Watch your steps,
Chose your company,
Deafen your ears,
Walk aright;
Asiri gbakute.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The poem reflects on gossip. Gossip tears friends and family apart. It's wisdom we watch what we say and where we say it.
