It Was You?

Mason Vollman

Lord Please, things are getting hard,

I need you,

Why can't I see you?

Come back home!

I need proof,

Theres no faith shining through,

Where are you?

Remember son,

I may not come when you want,

But i'm always on time.

Theres things you can't choose,

Just let your faith shine through.

Remember whats true,

Son, I died for you.

What do I do,

when i feel life is a dare?

when I feel i'm screwed,

Or i'm lonely and scared.

Where were you Lord?

In the hard times that passed,

I study your word,

But understanding, I can't grasp.

Son, See that light down the road?

It's gonna guide you there,

Two sets of footprints,

I was right beside you there.

So when you get scared,

Remember i'm there,

When you feel hurt,

Remember I care.

What about the times I only saw one set of footprints?

Those were the times my world was dim,

And I was under the gun,

When I only saw one.

I was there, I carried you my son.

Theres been so much i've been through,

So much to endure,

So when I ask 'Where are you?'

You'r right there?

So what you mean to tell me,

That after all this time,

It was you that shined so bright in me?

It was you my Lord that let me see,

It was you that made these demons hide,

It was you that gave me strength inside,

It was you that showed me right from wrong,

It was you that gave me wings to fly,

It was you through hard times kept me strong.

It was you that eased these tears I cried,

It was you that stayed by my side,

It was you that erased my sinful sight,

It was you that filled my heart with light,

It was you that stood, through the fight,

It was you that filled, and gave me might,

And in the dark, you shined so bright.

It was you that blessed me with this home,

It was you that gave me the gift of life,

Your the one that left your throne,

To walk with me, by my side.

It was you that claimed the victory,

For all of us you died,

And now I sing a symphony,

And because of it I cry.

People see you as an enemy,

I see you as a reason to try,

People are wickedly lost,

Because you'r the reason we're alive.

It was you that grabbed my hand,

It was you that led me to safety,

It was you that placed me on land,

All the others are crazy,

All the others hate thee,

They all try to change me,

Into thinking you didn't save me.

I know something,

And i'm not faking,

I know your the one that made me.

Are they afraid of change?

or maybe they're just lazy.

How could they hate?

The one that saved our souls?

Victory's His fate,

While demons hide in holes.

How could they hate you?

Our hearts are what you hold,

Again I think it through,

Through you were no longer cold.

We're the clay, and your the mold,

We're the paper, and your the fold,

Your the jacket, when we're cold,

And your the wheels, when we roll.

Your the light, in the dark,

Your the footprints in the marsh,

You were the love, that filled my heart,

You were always there, from the start.

It was you that put the light at the end,

To guide me there.

There were two sets of footprints,

You were right beside me there.

And when theres only one set of footprints,

It was me being carried, by you, to safety,

My Lord and Saviour,

The one who saved me.

Yes my son, now smile.
