Let me just be

If we were alone, would you expect me to talk?

Would you let me stand up and away walk?

Would I be expected to look at you,

even pay attention to what you do?

If we were alone, would you expect me to care,

about anything you tried to make me of aware?

Would I have to respond to your questions?

Intently listen to your personal suggestions?

If we were alone, would you let me just be?

It would be perfect if you just let me be me.

I changed for you

I changed the day I met you,

the days you let me look at you,

the days you let me speak to you.

I changed the days you spoke with me,

the days you sat and opened up to me,

the days you got your comfort from me.

I changed the days you said you loved me,

and the days you excepted my love from me.

I changed the days you asked me if I wanted you,

and the days you told me you wanted me too.

I changed only for you.

I knew I needed to,

to be loved by you.

I changed for you.

Be the first

Wake up little one and release the light,

release the restrictions to your sight.

Clear your eyes and stretch your arms,

flex and loosen all your beautiful charms.

Standup and acknowledge your height,

confirm to yourself you survived the night.

Take in the morning's inspirational views,

the flowers opening to the shadow's ques.

Listen closely as the birds to the world sing,

and contemplate what this new day will bring.

Wake up little one and release the light,

be the first beauty to rise from the night.

No choice, no voice

Born with will of our own, but no choice,

expected to know that sound is a voice.

No choice to the color of our skin,

expected to understand we are all kin.

What gave them the right to bring us in,

make us a part of their family, their kin.

They made theirs but gave us no choice,

gave us for this decision, no voice.

I am intellect

I come direct and correct,

I redirect whatever I select,

neglect the minds I infect,

inject only what’s perfect.

I am intellect.

For the affect to take effect,

interject to misdirect,

and connect to your, introspect.

Stop and protect your respect,

and retrospect only to recollect.

I am intellect.
