listening ears

mixxedchixs

Can you please

Not interrupt?

I have

Something

To say.

I am feeling

Things

Trying to explain

But you

Just

Won't

Listen.

You are begging

Asking

Pleading

Me

To stop.

But i try to explain

And

You interrupt.

You ask me,

Yet don’t wait for an answer.

Your assumptions

Overpower the truth

When

The truth

Is what you really wanted

In the first place.

May I please

Finish?

I want to share

My side

Of the story.

Please do not assume.

But

I will let you

Continue

You can say

The twisted truth.

I did not lie.

I let you

Continue

Because

In that moment

It would be disrespectful

To correct you

All I ask

Is that you

Listen.

Please.

You might notice

That

This is actually a cry for help.

And not some

Random

Impulsive

Teenager

Sort of thing.

I need connection

But how can i

When all you do

Is work?

It is appreciative

That you work

Hard

For

Me.

But the providing

Of basic needs

Is not enough.

I have problems too.

And

I need you.

I need you to be there for me

I need you to support me

Even if you are disappointed.

I need you to listen to me

And not judge me

Or jump

To conclusions.

Please.

Can you listen?

A very important message in this poem. Listening is more important than speaking. Some people talk too much but most people don’t listen enough. Very nicely written.
