Everlasting Beauty

Alandra G

It begins with beauty,

ending there also;

seeing turquoise tides

and diamond lies daily;

watch the wild bluebirds

fly aimlessly to nowhere;

listen to the weak babbles

of those in translucent pain;

gape upon the blackened sycamore

that lost its life in an unknown war;

turn around to live the scarlet terror

of the haughty fire caused by jealousy;

smell the lavender beauty

of calm minds;

back to the pretty;

the mysterious ocean;

with its translucent hatred

of the slippery shadows.

that come to take you.

and the bitter teardrops

of hallucinogenic souls.

that wish to drown you in their sorrows.

The beauty there was

is no more.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem reminded me how important it is to live in the moment. It shows the ups and downs of life, but neither defines you. When we learn to let go, to forgive and forget, then we can truly let the past behind us and exist in the present.
