To You

Jeffery Lee Palmer

Love can be a crystal-clear stream

with smooth river rocks under your feet

the sun gently warms your skin

Lovers taking in every moment

hands, lips, and attached at the hip

New lovers who cannot resist

to be close and enjoy the first's

every sense is on high alert

never forgetting this very day

they will reference this and say

at the alter and fiftieth anniversary

We knew it was love when we woke up

eye to eye, lip to lip, our bodies stuck

getting out of bed was tough

we embarked on an adventure

as we covered miles of nature,

we fell deeper and deeper

in love, so keep me close

my heart belongs to you alone
