Dreams

Charles Kick

I wish for once that I would dream

Instead of living bed to rise

A lovely dream where we unite

Our voices on the phone

Then I come running to your arms

Snap

Back in the reality

You’re decimated far from me

My reach can’t span the miles for your comfort

And I’m way beyond disappointment

This isn’t the life I imagined for us

Is this the life we need?

A bird without its nest flies for miles

Turning miles into leagues

Continents and oceans

Such a migratory journey

Till one day in the end we meet

With tears unshed

No words express the pain

I love you and don’t want no other

So I fly alone

As long as I can’t have you

A scent of loneliness Fills this poem. It carries with it, sadness and melancholy with a hope for reunion. Very nice.
