On war..

NafisaSB

War is senseless -

War destroys

War kills

And yet

Meaningless though it is

Like the fight of small kids

It persists.

The only difference is:

Children do not have malice

They forgive

They forget

They bond again

And continue with their games

But –

War is a deadly game

That destroys mercilessly

And it is the innocent who suffer most

And -

Man’s greed is so intense-

For power, for land, and for pelf

That he will indulge in wars

Keeping common sense on the shelf.

;You shouldn't start me off again - I've only just calmed down!😂
    Strong write, safina.

    • NafisaSB

you are most welcome to shoot off - i welcome all comments - lol..
actually, this was in response to a call for submissions on war on 'allpoetry.com'.
i rest my case, though i do feel that wars are basically senseless..

I don't know how some poets here spread themselves over other sites as well as this one...I'm flat out keeping up here.
I'd just finished heavily responding to comments on my Patriotism verse and felt all tuckered out: did a nap actually....

        • NafisaSB

at my age, i need one small power nap too to get charged up...so go ahead and have one whenever needed - will add to your creativity when the mind is calm and happy
i confess that i do publish on very few other sites , and respond to any feedback as soon as i find time..

Dear Safina, such a strong write. No one wins in war. Everyone loses. Words wisely chosen. Have a happy Saturday dear poet 🌹

          • NafisaSB

sorry for the late response..you are right, everyone is a loser in a war- and they make no sense at all

          • Tony36

It pains me to mention that there have been wars as long as there have been humans, and likely will continue.
Territory, power, gold, and the worst; religion. We never learn.

                  • NafisaSB

that is the true tragedy, that despite there being no gain, except maybe a little territory , all sides lose...but mankind has not yet learnt a lesson, unfortunately

Powerful words Children show anger but not hatred that has to be taught.

                    • NafisaSB

yes , i agree with you completely - kindness is inborn, hatred is taught

There is so much truth here it hurts .. Neville

                        • NafisaSB

yes, it does..but still the wars seem to be going on and on
