SIT AT HOME

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

The wind blows differently
in the Southeast Nigeria,
Men are lions,
Fighting for freedom.

Southeast stood still,
Citizens watch in awe,
Leaders have sold
our trust to greed and selfishness.

Our black Joshua
has been incarcerated
for excerising
freedom of speech.

Many bloods
will pay the price
for many to be free,
Sit at home a new normal.

Today the evidence
is clear,
Awka Agulu- Ekwulobia roads
are deserted,
When will the new flag be raised?

  • Comment from author about the poem: The poem reflects on referendum. The southeast Nigeria had fought for independence in 1967-1970 (the Biafran War). Till date, the southwest is still agitating for her freedom for a Biafran Nation. The incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (MNK) for no justifiable reasons has angered and triggered the southeast region in to setting aside Mondays for sit at home. With this reaction, they are calling on Nigeria 🇳🇬 government to release MNK and give referendum to Southeast region.
