And is it the anchor, locked around my wrist - fortifying this clenched up fist?
Who cuts the cord, you or me? Can’t you see? Well, you said you could.
Clouded with smoke and words you thought would make me feel good.
Same song and dance never believing in me. With nothing to prove.
Deep down you knew I could see.
And yeah, we already know pure hearts are real.
Still can’t put your finger on the hows and whys of what it made you feel.
Secrets laced as memories grant a taste when sharing a meal.
But you weren’t ready for that kind of connection. Spiders creep in giving that special type of protection.
And the webs have been weaved.
Mind trickery or sent to deceive.
But as that anchor holds tight.
Darkness sent to find the light. We knew you were coming.
Right down to the letter. But wait, there’s more, it gets better.
Could have been a king. Hidden in the ways you sing.
Got caught up doing that thing. But you knew it when those ears started to ring.
Cuts up and down but for the life of me I can’t break this string.
By the look in your eyes. Couldn’t hide your disguise.
No matter how many times we tried. Chest puffed choking on all that pride.
And it’s okay. I was sent your way and you mine.
Fated writings foretelling the signs. Wasn’t too hard creeping into that mind.
Pushed too far or hiding behind scars nearly left you blind.
Let me go and I’ll let you.
I still feel your heart. Holding and molding yourself some sort of sad fresh start.
But the truth is I see you clearer when we’re apart.
Your mind moves miles a minute.
Last bits of energy realizing they’re finished.
But you’re still wanting more?
Fighting and forced waiting did you even know what it was for?
Granting more wishes life laced with the lore.
The darker the consort the deeper the whore.
Memories haunt you from all the manipulation and gore - that poor young boy was meant to endure.
These simple acts won’t let you fully release.
As the weight of your choices continues to increase.
Just listen for the words I left for you upon the breeze.
Letting your mind wander gets you what you please.
