Train

Jeffery Lee Palmer

I'm so alone and homesick

I can't handle this silence

vibration of your vocal chords

Are like an angelic chorus

Guiding me to the light

Relieved of any plight

I awake to the clack

Of these old tracks

Sitting on this slow train

Head stuck to the pane

Seeing my reflection

mundane without you in it

I break the suction

To look at your picture

You are with me everywhere

Someday we will retire

Our fire will never burn hotter

We have always honored

the oath to have and to hold

Keeping you enfolded

I value your opinions

Your thoughts carry merit

It is what makes this perfect

From life as a child I dreamed

That I would find my queen

I could never be my more happy

You are my everything
