We're Not Okay but Thanks for Asking

John Lee

We're Not Okay but Thanks for Asking

We're pretty good at faking smiles

We look at you but we're seeing miles

Of all the diminishing hope

We tighten the noose on the rope

In the quiet hours of being alone

Gripping the one way ticket home

For your sake we say we're okay

But we simply want to end the day

No we won't apologize

You're the fault of all our lies

You ask but you don't want to know

If we're okay just so you can go

We're not okay but thanks for asking

This is us without the masking

They ask over and over, but we lie because we know they aren't ready for the real answer.

    • John Lee

If we do answer, is just more empty questions that follow..

The curse of insincerity perfectly described. Nice.

        A curse indeed. Thanks Dan.
