Good soldiers follow orders

LP2187

In the conflict, a figure starts to rise

Powerful on the horizon fate lies

Identical troopers covered in white

March through the endless night

Brothers fight side by side through crossfire

Bound by duty, driven by desire

Machines of war, created to fight

And save the republic’s fading light

Commanders lead squadrons onto the field

They follow orders, and never yield

They do what they’re told, never question

The brothers ignore any misconception

Because good soldiers follow orders

And they march along their base’s borders

They shoot when told to, how they were taught

They obey without any afterthought

For in the end, when all seems lost

Courage and hope will pay the cost

Through the chancellor’s plans they act

In the battle, they fire, intact

A shadow looms, a hidden hand

Guiding both sides with a dark command

Brothers turned against their kin

A tragic end, where none can win

The light extinguished, hearts turned cold

A tale of sorrow, yet to be told

In the silence, echoes remain

Of heroes lost, and endless pain

But good soldiers follow orders

The instructions coming from the chancellor’s quarters

They did the right thing, or so they wonder

They answered the call of war’s destructive thunder

Thanks for 'favouriting' several of my poems.
I doubt I will guess the meaning of anything too cryptic (difficult, hidden meaning, etc)! lol.

This is all too appropriate these days. Sad but true. Very nice.
