Forever Promise

Jeffery Lee Palmer

Kissing you with eyes wide open

I never take a second for granted

two lovers working together

focused on uplifting each other

if you sweat, I'll be there to wipe it

I knew from the very first moment

when I saw you, my iris dilated

Brain chemicals surged from every region

I knew my future was written

When goosebumps arose from my skin

all indications urged me to hold on

letting go is not an option

love is awaiting, only separated by an ocean

our empty hands are numb and achy

without you, my bed is cold and empty

unable to hold and cuddle you

days are never the same without you

words compiled and paragraphs

without a voice, there is less impact

letters keep up the conversation

touching would be the best conversion

waiting for you to step off a plane

seeing exactly what I dreamed

finally experiencing it in reality

butterflies flapping with intensity

I await that day with all my being
