A Different Kettle of Fish

A Different Kettle of Fish

What an entirely

different

kettle of fish

it is today,

don’t you think ..

A whole new

ball game, for this

our brave

new world ..

Quite different

to the one

we all grew up in,

isn’t it ..

Now we have

Covid 19

to contend with,

not to

mention iPhones,

or that AI ..

Is it really any

wonder

so very many of us

look back

fondly to when

steam was

king and when

honour

meant everything

long

before textspeak

and all

acronyms

were frowned on DYK ..

Oh, the tune we played then. Dear Neville. What a kettle of fish it was. You could make love and not die. Watch TV and not cry.

It’s just change, Neville..gotta have change – even if I personally don’t bloody like much of it…

it's the only constant innit .. but just because it is and we realise it .. we don't have to appreciate or like it much, do we .. at least we are both on the same side .. cheers Dave .. Neville

Yes, I of course, was on 'The Rocket' steam train when it first reached the terrifying speed of 29mph, I think it was.

I wonder it our ancesters spoke of the times before fire? I often look back on (those days) and just feel happy that I was able to live them. I got the feeling Neville and have to agree

I like the way you looked at and subsequently felt, upon finding these words of mine .. many thanks

            • Tom Dylan

Completely agree, Neville. Things have moved on so quickly, but not for the better. A fine write.

I find it interesting that someone your age is also aware of how quickly things have moved on .. I woz gonna say progressed but I think moved on is more wot I meant .. cheers old fella ..

Yeah, I'm a few years off fifty, but so glad I grew up before the internet etc.. There doesn't seem to be anything particularly sociable about social media either come to that. Cheers, Neviile.

Here I am swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground .. hankering after the glory days of yore .. But will always have time to say thank you my friend .. Thank you my friend .. Neville
