Thunderstorm

archerygirl1920

It pours

While everyone snores

I lay awake

 And think as I shake

The sound of thunder

That could wake me from my slumber

Doesn't scare me Instead it calms me

Watching the lightning

So bright and daunting

I can barely hear the sound of the rain

Even though it's so near

I could normally hear

The rain against my windowpane

But today isn't one of those days

Even though I'm far from home

These little things bring me peace

As I think about the rain

How it could wash over me

Making me feel clean and refreshed

The lightning

How it could light up my life

Just like my family

And the thunder

Rumbling, shaking me

Shaking me to see

What's right in front of me

I have a family

Who's always there for me

I have a God who cares and loves me

Unconditionally

Forever

And even though I'm far from home

At least I know I'm never alone

I know I am here for a reason

Not as an act of treason

I am much better than I once was

And I know now

As everyone else does

That I am strong

Just like the thunder

Just like the lightning

Just like the rain
