The Endless Night

SimonM

Upon the edge of sanity

Our souls are kept in captivity

One's tears are used against our own dignity

Yet we quench the longing to belong with pointless activities

Filling our lives with antiquities

Serving our new lords that control countless industries

Still our lives remain a void of what holds meaning

We shout out into the abyss and hope for some refuge to reminisce

Our voices becoming quieter among those who shout lies and submit us into submission

All the while we give up our sacred traditions

In favor of the new normal in hopes of being accepted and avoid suspicion

Yet among all these trade offs we walk the sleepless nights aimlessly

Promised by wealth and fairness and a life of comfort

But within the days of death we feel ourselves smothered and our children are those who suffer

Perhaps we have exhausted all we have left in strength and might

And we now have sown the road of slavery upon us and our kin and refuse to do what's right

Another year in sight

One more decade without a fight

Continuing generations allowed to die

In the endless night
