Lovely LIAR

Bren Wrights

Lovely liar, how do you get by?

How long do you place smiles

on faces that wish to cry?

How often do you hide your eyes?

Lovely liar, do you ever get tired

of telling false promises,

of trying to hang on by a thread,

When you could be truthful instead?

Lovely liar, how long will you keep up this facade?

Playing charades with the people you hate

Throwing away time trying to keep the peace

and a knife within your reach

Lovely liar, tell me one thing

How much does the truth sting?

It's okay to be honest

it's only just us

Let's put this tale to justice

and throw away the picture-perfect harmony

If war brings us peace,

Then we'll die honourable at the very least.
