The bomb exploded
Lit up the night sky
Man-made ball of thunder
The power of destruction
It's the pinnacle of our civilized lives
Bodies burnt
Limbs severed, charred and silent
Testament to our creation for destruction
A gory macabre picture of our evolution
It's a victory we must celebrate
Glory to our civilization and righteous path
We go to battles, we fight the wars
With compassion in our hearts
They were not humans
No mother would feel like being choked
They were not humans
No father would lose all hope
They were not humans
No lover's wail would haunt the dead in the night
They were not humans
No child missed the chance to say goodbye
From the rubble,
Rising like the Phoenix
A mother stands up with a child
Defiance burning in her eyes, voice unquivering
She holds up the child high
"O' Civilized come and kill us all
Show us all your might
Destroy our bodies again and again
But our spirits will always be alive"
Hey civilized see our plights
We killed the demons
but they will again rise
Give us your money with holiness in your hearts
We will make more bombs and guns
And our battles will again be fought
The soldiers on both sides
In far-off lands
Look at the blood pouring out
From the dying Sun
Their lips quivered
In silent questions to whichever Gods they pray
"What kind of puzzle is it O' Lord
Why do we have to kill each other every day?"
The answer blows in the wind
Day in and day out
"No war was ever fought for your Gods
You were pawns in the wars of your mortal lords
War was and always will be
Fought for power, dominance
And MONEY above all"

Great write
Hi Tony, thank you very much!
You're welcome
"War was and always will be
Fought for power, dominance
And MONEY above all" Yes, double Yes. A truth summed up without bullshit.
Thank YOU very much! It feels really nice to realise I was not completely off my rocker when I wrote the poem.
BTW you could have a laugh, but Pink Floyd had an enduring impact on my outlook of the world
