In the land of dreams
l walk the green miles
Tall trees surround me,
Reaching for the firmament,
Bedecked with green leaves
Compete with each other
Who is more beautiful
To capture my heart
Shafts of light through leaves
Play the game of hide and seek
Scent of rain not so long ago
I walk in a trance
Reaching out to touch my destiny
Through a kaleidoscope
Of light and shadow
I see the trail winding through trees
Like a giant snake sleeping
Inside a brown sheath of dead leaves
A strange raspy sound I hear
When I step on the dead leaves
They tell me they never died
Been waiting in silence
Feeling sad and lonely
They welcome my company
The scene shifts
I find myself walking through
A mustard field
Flowers in full bloom all around
Blue sky bowing to greet
The mesmerizing yellow and green
I walk and I walk in the land of my dreams
Sun doesn't shift, time stops to exist
Through the corner of my vision
I see a cobra crawling towards me
Captivated by the beauty of her motion
I stand still
A sting on my leg was all that I felt
As she slithered past me
Numbness starts to set in
I stumble and fall on the field
Lying there all alone
Immersed in the strange sounds
Unknown smells, unfamiliar sights
Were they always there
And I didn't know about?
Looking at the azure blue
Sky without limit
Wispy clouds sail through
Castles in the sky
How lovely it is!
Motionless on the ground
As life slowly leaves me
I see it mingling with
The Flowers, the trees, the ground, and the streams
I feel like a mute spectator
To a spectacle of "I" ceasing to exist
And becoming one with all
I manage to mumble "oh God
At last I found you and
I wish it was earlier I heard your call"
"I" will not be there from now on
But, the "me" in my "I",
My spirit,
Will not perish till the end of time
It won't end today
Nothing can end with no ending
Our lives are but brief passages
Like the Sun's passing
Tomorrow the Sun will rise
So shall part of me
Rise in the trees
The bees, the butterfly
The flowers in the wild
So you shall always have me
Mother nature bore me
Been part of her since time started its journey
"I" existed for a fraction of eternal second
Now "I" is gone and it's only "Me"

You have captured in this poem manyof my feelings might I say beleifs and put them into a personal story that winds its way through nature's beauty finding its resting place in rebirth through the nature that it descibes. Masterful!!
