A Somnambulant Hum

Agantuk

Love, take me with you,

Anywhere far that you knew,

To lovely spring, to inspiring summer,

Or even the aloof, distant winter.

Anywhere but now and here,

For I fear my ire.

So I beg on my knees:

Hold my hand close to yours,

Pull me closer to the shore

Of the promised land, where I may adore

Anyone that chooses me in kindness,

In pity, or in silly romances.

Shape or form do not interest me—

All I wish is company.

Make me snow, if you may,

I would wait for the sun to melt me away.

How beautiful, how vain,

Would life be without this pain

Of restriction and loneliness,

And I too would possess

A smile sweet with evening

Or the groggy greeting of the morning.

But alas, such wishes never pass,

Just as the mango never flies but falls
