THE ICON OF HOPE

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

The literary icon,
Eyes of the African literature,
The Man of the People,
You masterfully sowed
The wheats of the wits.

The world is bereaved
of your journey beyond,
Though gone, you live with us,
Your literary piece speaks to us,
While your memory lives in us.

Though there was a country
called Biafra,
Where Ojukwo stood to conquer,
He fought to promote and protect
the Biafran nation.

It is not Longer at Ease,
With the families and foes
you left behind,
Mere anarchy and corruption,
Have desecrated our corridors of power.

The Trouble with Nigeria
is mocking us,
We are suffering and smiling,
Could this be the Arrow of God?

The Plague has ravaged the world,
And your grandchildren are at home
Reading Chike and the River,
Things have Fallen Apart,
But we hope to rebuild
The Anthills in the Savannah.
