Horizontal Callie

Gary Edward Geraci

I am vertical,

my characters,

horizontal.

Poets are

horizontal and

God, vertical.

Callie lacks free will,

she’s of my mind.

But in my poem,

her actions have

consequences.

My mind found

free will,

my mind found

Callie.

Actions with consequences,

there is nothing without God.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Callie is short for Callista meaning “most beautiful.” This one written in free verse, of course.

Good write Gary. I thought it was Calliope at first - the Muse of poetry.
