TAKE HER HOME

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

Have you not seen
The grey hairs
That mock at her?
Her eyes are aging.

She has become
a laughing stock
On the streets,
Why cage her for too long?

Are you dating, or courting?
Do something, or let her go,
Her prime is like a flower,
It fades away slowly.

Take her home to Mama,
Stop testing the woman in her,
Why widening her shrine?
When he has refused
To be her chief priest.

Don't judge her past
She opens up to him,
Because, she trusted him,
Maturity, she saw in him.

The streets have taught her
Many lessons,
A lot of bullets have pierced
through her heart,
Don't compound her wounds.

If he won't walk her
down the aisle,
Let her go,
Though it will hurt.

But she better walks away
Than live ages,
Under the tyranny
of his Odogwu.

Though fate isn't fair,
But many a heart, awaits her,
To grab her, with an open arms,
Don't lose gold, while chasing shadows.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The poem reflects on dating/relationship. It reminds men to stop delaying to marry their partner. Dating for too long is really depressive. It ends up depressing the lady in the relationship. Dating/relationship is a period of studying ones partner to know if both of are compatible. Relationship comes with ups and downs.
