HONEYMOON

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

Nature has made it so,
A woman is a woman,
Her pride is her husband,
Hobby turned daddy.

Ifunanya is all she seeks for,
Under the institution of marriage,
Locked in the prison of,
"For better, for worse".

Who could understand her nightmares?
At night he will wind his legs
and arms around her,
His hands will travel over her body,
Like the claws of a starving lion.

Nine month comes
With a promising testimony,
The seeds he planted survived
The battles of ovulation.

Obioma stands like a star,
Watching the birthed new man,
In awe, she stands wondering,
What has come over him.

Hobby will soon be daddy,
In the kitchen,
He displays his culinary skills,
Which has been hidden for years.

Will he remain like this forever,
Even after child birth?
Hope his buddy buddies won't lead him astray,
On the altar of club meetings and green bottles.
