The Boat Ride

Kerry

My cheeks creased from smiling so much.

It was one of those days, you know?

Where at the end you could contentedly die.

Happiness poured out from my soul – Its impetuous gushing.

My gorgeous boy beside me on that wide open boat,

The whales breaching so close.

A joy to spot them and cry to the crowd,

‘Over there, there’s another’

I was a teensy bit proud.

No threats could harm me away on the water,

A continent apart.

Dark thoughts continued to flicker in and out, but not then. A stunning reprieve.

This moment, so peaceful, forever etched in my mind.

It was one of those days, you know?

Where at the end you could contentedly die.
