THE APPLE OF MY EYES

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

Wishes can't be horses,
I will make you my Juliet,
And I will be your Romeo,
I will adore your breasts for decades,
And pour libations in your temple forever.

Though, there will be ups and downs,
They all come to put
spokes in our wheels,
But never let them puncture our Ifunanya,
Ekwensu must take the back seat forever.

It took me years to find you,
Don't let what we share
Slip away like a bird,
who finds comfort in exile.

Don't comfort me in my wrongs,
Rebuke me, and tell me the truth,
Though it will hurt, but spit it out,
Caution my Id, and boost my Ego.

Each morning, don't let me step out,
Without paralyzing my thighs,
It clears lust from the heart,
And set my vision on motion.

You are mine, and mine forever,
Forever, we shall paddle this canoe,
Don't let friendly foes keep us closely apart,
Our tombs will be monuments of remembrance.
