The High Cost of Living

Eileen Clark

The cost of living these days has gotten really high

One should be able to afford a coffee and some pie

When dining out I have to choose one or the other
My wallet is so empty, it's lighter than a feather

I now drink tea and keep a tea bag in my pocket
When you see why I know that you won't mock it
I ask the waitress to please give me a cup of water
Then I explain to her why it needs to be hotter

In my other pocket is a big apple so juicy and red
Placing a napkin on the counter so nicely spread
Folks watching me dunk the tea bag up and down
Probably thinking I'm the smartest guy in town

Lovely to see you dear Eileen, you have hit on a very powerful subject, even here in Italy everything is high in price now, things that we take for granted like a cup of tea and a slice of cake aren't things all of us can look forward to anymore. Kudos 🌹

Hi Teddy, good to hear from you again. I don't come here because I always have a problem with the formatting as you can see. I don't have this problem on any of my other sites. Thank you for the lovely comment. I haven't written in awhile but this one came to me for obvious reasons. lol
