DON'T WALK AWAY

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

The heart is heavily laden
Like a pregnant rock,
Waiting to vent cold fire
Without chewing words.

Though stuck by the fracases of fate,
Why pay heed to the lips of our foes?
Who vowed to keep us
Closely apart.

The blood ties have untied
Our real enemies,
The genotype and phenotype,
Have kept us on a crossed road.

If wishes were horses,
I will deafen the warnings of science,
And walk you down the aisle,
And reap the fruits of my fate.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The poem reflects on Relationship and Genotype. People date without careful medical checkup of their genotype and blood group. This costly mistake has ruined many relationships/marriages. Lovers must learn to heed the warnings of science or wait to reap the fruits of their mistakes.
