Darkness's trap & Endless Night

Maplespal

Darkness's trap

The darkness breathes on its own,

tracks the dying souls it wants.

Listening to deaths silent tone,

and how intriguingly it taunts.

The darkness moves with ease,

through, under, over, and around.

It can be moved by the breeze,

capturing death with no sound.

The darkness replays your death,

repeatedly in a darkened state.

Retaking your last breath,

carrying all the soul’s weight.

Blinding all that’s in your view,

darkness becomes your plight.

Taking your essence from you,

trapping you in its night.

Endless night

Slowly sliding across the land,

even gliding through the air.

Approaching it quietly expands,

without you being aware.

Surrounding its target with care,

silently whispering its name.

Into your light it patiently stares,

the darkness of deaths game.

Feeding on life’s steady breath,

it strengthens itself with your light.

When your life comes to its death,

you’ll be thrust into an endless night.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I felt the need to bring the darkness to life, expand your understanding of deaths night. Let your mind understand what takes your light, the difference is thinner than the sharpest knife. The darkness that feeds on your light, the one that gives you an eternal night. The reality of an unknown sight, everyday many lose their fight. I felt the need to open your sight, inform you of the light keeping it alive, of this entity and how it survives, of deaths forever darkened night.

Some similarity to Dylan Thomas here. having had general anesthesia before I imagine it something like that. Things go black. Very nicely worded
