ON A CROSSED ROAD

Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke

Notice of absence from Jude Chukwuemeka Muoneke
I will surely get back to you when I come online.

Abandoned I am in pains,
Believe me, my eyes rains,
Caught in the web,
Depressed by the tyranny of life,
Enticed by the choices mocking at me,
Fortunately I am alone in this,
Golden medal awaits me,
Hope a shield to my soul,
I am on a crossed road,
Jumping and sitting in thoughts,
Knowledge is vanity without wisdom,
Lead me Lord out of temptation!
Money is mocking at me,
No one to help me cross the other side,
Only my fate is staring at me,
Please, how do I cross this road?
Questions quagmirely asked,
Retribution cautions my choices,
Should I journey the road of mammon?
Trading my soul for fame and wealth,
Under pleasure will I weep in pressure,
Vanity upon vanity,
Will my heart find peace in these?
X-raying the fate of my soul,
Yearning for His saving grace,
Zealously seeking His divine direction.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The poem is an alphabetical poem, it reflects on the poet persona's circumstances. He seems to be caught in the web of indecision where he questions why things seem not to be working, no one to help him cross the other side of life. He seems to have worked hard, but nothing to show for it. He's been cautioned by the choices, good and evil staring at him. At the end of the poem he looks up to heaven and allow the will of God prevail over his life.
