"OH!" They say

Sunita

Some say it’s hard to wait

Some - to forget

But the worst pain of it all

Is when you don’t know when it ends

Whether to wait or to forget

To smile or to regret.

You know they might be right; in their own wicked way

If it came down to me, I’d say it’s hard to stay.

To stay through pain; With hope of gain

To fight through oceans of endless prayers

The ocean that drowned us, the ocean of our tears

We tried so desperately to see what may have been

What could have, should have, would have been

We fell in to the hole we dig way to deep

Hoping whoever is lost will never see the sheen

To fight through that darkness

The darkness that we run and run and run

Hoping to escape from what was deeply trapped

Knowing it all, we could have fought

But how can one fight, even when the love is lost

How can one fight when what one’s fighting for is so long gone

We looked for it all along

Maybe it was were we thought was home

But may I ask,……… who’s home?

Home is merely a place.

Home is a heart.

Somewhere one feels safe

And I can’t help but wonder

Were we home?

Or just in a shelter till we found one of our own?

“OH!” they say

As if they didn’t see it coming

Through all the years they were never talking

Through all the nights she slept at her mom’s

Or those evenings he came home drank

As if it weren’t right in front of them

Maybe they thought it irrelevant

Maybe they thought they still had the love they endeavored

Maybe they thought it would pass like a rainstorm

When all along it stayed there destroying all they built

They ache, as if they ever tried

When they sat by the door, and watch it crumble fast

They cried about the fire they lighted long ago

They felt desperate as it destroyed their home

Home ………………..is where they were lost
