SINKING SHIP

Ezekiel Olayemi

Oh, sinking ship, majestic still,

Your beauty leaves me breathless and thrilled.
At sight of you, my heart overflows,
Eyes wide with wonder, soul aglow.

You sheltered me, naked and alone,
Ended my isolation, made me whole.
In your embrace, I found my place,
A circle of love, a warm, safe space.

Memories linger, fresh and bright,
Air filled with laughter, sun-kissed delight.
Your radiant smile, joy uncontained,
Echoes of happiness, love unrestrained.

Yet, cracks appear, wounds of the past,
Pain and anguish, forever to last.
Your cry, a sorrowful, mournful sigh,
Forgotten smile, suffocating, dying light.

Oh, sinking ship, my heart remains,
Longing to heal, to ease your pains.
Can I mend cracks, change your fate?
Or will memories be your final state?
