Crows In The Courtyard

Katdream

a murder of crows flew onto the lawn
no cawing was heard, no rustling of feathers
remaining silent until it was dawn

the courtyard was always a place to be drawn
where oddities gathered so often
a murder of crows flew onto the lawn

tonight is no different, they continue to spawn
this swarming brood of magical birds
remaining silent until it was dawn

I returned to the window hoping they were gone
the setting sun threw shadows through the panes
a murder of crows flew onto the lawn

unable to sleep I sat watch like a prawn
foolishly sensing they would take flight
remaining silent until it was dawn

I greeted the morning light with a yawn
when abruptly my visitors took to the sky
a murder of crows flew onto the lawn
remaining silent until it was dawn
