A Contradicting Heart

Spencer Wilhelm

A grand horizon opens the mind

and lets the air come in

In this land surrounded by hills

I feel like cans of tin

The natural beauty rising high

really makes me feel small

Though grandiose I think that I

prefer my sights less tall

The landscapes that I like to see

are simple and are bland

Contradicting though it may seem

in them I see God's hand

When I'm there I feel most free

and open to His grace

Here with mountains covered with trees

I'm sheltered from His face

When I return to my great plains

All thankfulness I'll be

In all the beauty of this world

The simple is for me

    Beautiful work.

Thanks, this is one of my first times I looked out my window and tried to put what my inside was feeling onto paper.
