Awakening to the Flame

Introverted Sage

Some deep itches just can't be scratched.
Buried so deep - refusing the patch.
House of cards is poorly stacked.
Heels dug in - refusing to react.

Taking me places where I belong.
Singing with the melody - heart beating strong.
And it's no wonder that was the chosen song.
Fated to wait - as I have been all along.

Moved me with all of your might.
Dreams in sequence all through the night.
Like a moth to a flame - oh, to touch the light.
Eyes opened now - timing just right.

Whispering ways flow through my veins.
Flooded messages dancing in my brain.
Hold onto the beat to keep from going insane.
Constant composure getting harder to maintain.

Swore off love - then you come along.
Heels dug deep but you're coming on strong.
Everything in me says this thing is wrong.
Making me sing this fated song.

Broken and the pieces don't all fit together.
Away the wind blows - float on the weather.
Biding my time - light as a feather.
Maybe I'm meant to be - this way forever.

Taking my time I understand how you are.
In comes that smile - but it keeps us apart.
Dance with me real slow as I teach you the art.
Dance with my skin and I'll keep my heart.

Replays in my mind - scenes of a coward.
Message to heed - counting down the hours.
Moment by moment - walk slow and see the flowers.
Tick tick tick boom - unleashing my power.

I'll tell you what I want - if you go slow.
'Why wait when you can see the world - it's ours, you know'.

Mind telling me - there's no way this could work.
Over my shoulder and in my ear these monsters seem to lurk.
Careful with your time - refusing the hurt.
Safe distance kept - to deter the burn.

Swore off poetry, then you came along... seriously, I enjoy the pulsing energy, the near-neurotic flow of images and feelings and the drumming of the rhyme.
