Todays task
Today we are to stop and remember,
reflect on all the lost members,
all the lives that died for peace.
Remember their souls were released.
Let us remember those that walked away,
those that could not work another day.
The dead that walk in life alone in despair,
of them not many stop today, show they care.
Today I acknowledge everyone's plight,
in and out of a uniform in my sight.
The lives of civilians remembered as well,
Lots lost their lives in a wars hell.
Today I reflect on the dying at war
even as I write today killed some more.
Around the world lives lost every day,
it is sad remembering in a somber way.
A poppy to reflect supposed world wars,
meanwhile in Ukraine the artillery pours.
Bullets fly back and forth past many heads,
today reflecting on how many end up dead.
People are dying from conflicts each day,
and we are to stop and remember in one way.
Stand silent and listen to religious prayers spoke,
ironically we except their deadly worded joke.
Acknowledge that if religion was not aware,
their would be more people everywhere.
Every war us humans have stupidly fought,
power, land, and riches were always sought.
Each year I stand silent and look ahead,
watch a ceremony honoring the dead.
For a religion they were sent to defend,
now we remember the lives that had to end.

More than 'just a thought' (singular), You cover the issues more profoundly than many who once a year decide to remember 'the fallen'. In the broader context, your post includes continuing conflicts today, innocent civilians (a hobby horse of mine!) and the fact that "Every war us humans have stupidly fought, power, land, and riches were always sought".
Good for you and thank you!.
Great write
